Hi
Can anyone clarify the gun laws for me? My property backs on to farm land where someone has been shooting wildlife - birds, foxes etc and I can't find out whether he should be shooting so close to houses and public rights of way. I know he uses a shotgun for the birds, but not sure about the foxes and I believe that the law is different for different types of gun. Any ideas?

Cheers

Not a lawyer but I understand if the shooter owns the land or has owner's permission then they can shoot anywhere on it. This is subject to usual requirements about reckless endangerment of other people and property.
Hopefully some actual lawyers will reply also

In addition to what scotman says this is also subjected to hunting seasons for various animals.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I take some comfort from the fact that the whole subject appears to be as complex as I was finding it!!
This is the code for good shooting practice, at the Countryside Alliance website. Read through it, because it has references to relevant legislation and more specific sources of advice:
