Basically to cut a long story short, on the 21st June.. 3 separate payments were taken out of my account, all at the same time: 12.49, 12.49 and 329.98.

I know nothing about these payments, they ain't been made by me.  i've contacted the bank (HSBC) and told them, they've cancelled my card, and said they're to do an investigtion.  Now, the 2 payments of 12.49, have come from a website called dvdplus.co.uk, i've never even seen this website before.  Should i contact the site, and ask them kind of questions like "what address has the items been posted to?" or would this be interfereing with the banks investigation?

Please can someone advise me as to what to do??

Thanks

I would leave it to your bank.  Also report it to the police as it is fraud and usually your bank will need a crime number anyway.

Even if you phone the website in question, it is doubtful they would give you any info but if you give all the details to your bank/the police, they should do this anyway.

Have you lost your card or had it stolen or is it still in your possession and therefore has probably been cloned?

sounds like your card has been cloned and is now being used to run up debts by them purchasing the goods using your money! i personally (right or wrong) checkout dvdplus and if they seem reputable then enquire where the dvds were sent to so u can find out an address, but i might be wrong to do so

Leave it to the bank but do go to the police just to get a crime reference number.
Your card hasn't been cloned as that'd mean a physical copy of it existed. To spend online, you only need a bit of paper with the card number, expiry date etc. written on it.
If you spoke to the shop and said "I didn't spend this, who did you post it to", they'd be breaking the Data Protection Act by telling you.
You're guaranteed to get this money back and once your card is stopped (and replaced), any further attempts at this same shop will be declined.
I had two payments come out of my account in May. Both were foreign companies i had never heard of. I went to my bank and filled out a debit card payment dispute form and they have refunded my account. Best to leave contacting the site as this will be done by the bank in their investigation.

If i were u (and i have been in that situation before but it was some1 walkin round with my credit card and raked up over 2 grand on it!!!!!)  i would do as much investigating as possible about who is purchising with ur card and were the address is ect. the police are useless and dont care. i just hope ur bank pays it back for u as mine did. its a horrible situation to be but i went all 'detective' and caught the bitch who had my card, she is now servin time!!! ha

I agree with ginger. I wouldn't want to leave it to the Bank, and have yours dealt with in a long list of others, when they have time to do it. I would go straight to the website and tell them. Maybe their payment options aren't strict enough- for example, maybe they don't request the 3 figure security code on the back of your card? The theif may not have that. Also most companies require you to set up an account including a password/special question before you even get to paying for something. DVDplus.co.uk should make sure that their secuity is foolproof. They should definitely know about this!

I see the dvdplus website has an option to send goods to the card holders address or an alternative  address. This type of situation facilitates fraud.

Do not hold back from contacting DVDplus. Too many companies hide behind the Data Protection Act to protect self failure. Contact them immediately and advise their response to the police and your credit card company who should be reversing the debits by now. If they have not reversed these entries ask them why not and report to the police.

I agree with gingerflaps; this happened to me once with a payment to what was One2One. 10 came out, but I was on contract.  I contacted them and they were able to do what is called chargeback on my card number so that any future payments made with my number would be rejected; they also cut the person's line. I had to report it to the police and I got the money back from the bank. You should do all you can as generally banks fraud depts will not have the time to investigate "small" amounts of fraud; not small to you but in banking terms it is.  You would not be stepping on their toes.
