Buying a computer in Italy

It is my father in law's 70th birthday in November and he lives in Italy. I live in the UK and I would like to buy him a computer for his birthday. He is not interested in a powerful machine or a laptop. He wants a desktop PC. We are not looking to pay too much money and would like to buy the computer in Italy so that we don't have to try and carry the desktop on an aeroplane. Any advice? If possible we would like to pay about £200 but can go a bit more if necessary. We would like it to be new and not too bothered if it does not come with a monitor. Thanks for your help.

It depends if he is going to use the PC in italy in ITALIAN, or ENGLISH.

For example a UK keyboard is different to an Italian keyboard (different letters and characters in different places).

Also a PC bought in Italy will have Italian versions of the software (Italian menus, help text etc), whereas one bought in the UK will have English text.

If he wants to use it in ENGLISH then suggest you get a laptop and carry it over.

If he wants to use it in Italian buy a PC over there.

I think you will need to find someone in Italy to advise on buying a PC in Italy.

That is a good point about the Italian keyboard (I can never find the @ key in Italy).

If anyone knows any good Italian based websites for me to buy from and get delivered in Italy that would be great.
