why is it always petrol/electric, i have not heard of a diesel/electric.am i missing something obvious??? is diesel engine too big so cant fit all necessary electric components, isdiesel engine too heavy for electric motor to carry.just wondered if any of you out there may have answer. i buy diesel 2500litres a time when prices drop so cannot afford to switch to petrol.. thanks in advance

I dont know - but I am guessing that a petrol engine is more efficient at generating electricity because it revs much faster
I'm sure that if hybrids continue to make inroads into the market, a diesel version won't be long.
