Do you mean like a tikka red thing? You can buy a small jar called "Sizzle and Stir" made by Knorr. It's a paste which you stir fry chicken with. The tikka one is great, actually makes it go red and taste proper! These days they have added a big jar to the small one, so you can make masala, but I just use the small jar to make chicken tikka.

I think if you wanted to do it authentically it would involve a lot of spices and marinating for a long time in the fridge. Here's a recipe

The red coating is only food colouring, that is only to make it more appealing to the eye. Is like pink icing, the red colouring.

Just make it like ursula62 had suggested, colours are bad for you anyway and have no taste.
