is there anyone out there who has ever been shot during a firefight whilst wearing body armour? im curious because i want to know what the reality of being shot with body armour is. films and games are so unrealistic as everyone knows. can you really just get shot, stand up, keep fighting and forget about it till later? do you not even think about due to the adrenaline? do you get bruised?

I've never been shot, but I do know that if a round hits your body armour you get the bruise from hell and you will be winded.

If you remember the 3 members of the RMP who were shot in their car in Basra in 2003 one of them was hit on his armour, the round ricochet upwards of it hitting his head and killed him instantly.
I have been shot twice at the same time last year in Iraq. One on the chest breaking 2 ribs and a head shot which ricochet off my helmet. I have retired now but still get pains in the chest from it.
