Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Anglo-Saxon god of war

Tonight I watched the quiz show "one versus 100". This was one of the questions - Which day of the week was named after the Anglo-Saxon god of war? The two remaining competitors both got the answer wrong. They chose Thursday from Thor who is the god of thunder and who I thought was a god of war too because of what I remembered from my school days. The right answer was Tuesday from Tyr who is definitely a god of war. I think the main competitor lost about �8,000 because of that question. It seems like a trick question. Can both Tyr and Thor be the Nordic god of war?

I think it's correct that Tyr is the god of war, and not Thor.

The Scandinavians called him Tyr and the Anglo-Saxons Tiw.

Thanks Sarumite. I don't know why I didn't learn about Tyr in my school days; only about why the other days of the week were so named. The first I knew of Tyr being a god of war was when I bought Black Sabbath's Tyr and I did some reading to find out who Tyr was. Even then I didn't relate him to the day of the week Tuesday.
