In the last two years I've been diagnosed w/petit mal seizures; I am now 20. I can recall having similar experiences about 10 times ( "blacking out" for 30 seconds w/no one noticing; feeling dizzy; ect) from age 3 to 10. I don't know why I didn't have one for almost 10 years and now I having them weekly (unless controlled by medicine). Has anyone else had a simliar experience to mine, and what have you done? There is no history of seizures in my family. I have been to a doctor, but I would like advice from someone who has been through this. Thank you.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear that you have this. I also have epilepsy but mine is brought on by flickering lights. I have only ever had one grand mal. I remember having petit mals when I was about 15 on the bus on the way to school. I am not on medication but if I have another grand mal medication will be considered. Epilepsy tends to occur in people between the ages of 13 and 21 the most because this is when the brain is developing. I have been told mine could dissapear by the time I'm 21 because then my brain will be fully developed (I am only 20). There is a website you can visit for more information on epilepsy. www.epilepsy.org.uk If you ask your doctor he/she might have a numebr you can call and speak to other in your position. I was offered it by my doctor but I never called. Reply to me if you want to chat. kazzee69 xx

One suggestion I would make is don't use any artificial sweeteners. Most of them contain Aspartame which is documented as being responsible for seizures, vertigo and brain tumors. My family avoids them like the plague.
