I work for a Vehicle Hire Company. When we get a Motoring Offence fine from the Police, we have to inform them of the person who hired the vehicle at the time. We send copy invoice and thats the end of it. Today we received a UKPC Civil Traffic Enforcement Notice. Contravention is Vehicle causing obstruction. There is no form to fill in for hire companies so are we liable (the hirer signs an agreement to say they are liable for all offences). The vehicle is a transit van and the photo does not show ANY obstruction apart from it uses 2 car spaces because they do not provide room for vans.

The question was are we liable. An email from Martin's Moneytips answered for me but thanks anyway.
What I am sure you didn't do was pass the details of the hiree to the Private Parking Contractor as that would be a breach of the Data Protection Act, unless of course you got permission from the hiree first.

Do tell us what you did do, and what advice you received from 'Martins Moneytips'
