Has the technical department put in place a specific program that has the ability to ban a particular user based on their ISP or IP address or some other scrutinising criteria , and more specifically, has the technical department at AB towers managed to use such a program to blanket ban any attempt by Legend to register and or post on the site?

I look forward to a Frank (or Jesse) reply to my enquiry.

I don't wish to be rude dotty, really I don't. But what business is it of yours (or anyones really) if Legend is banned? And how will knowing the answer one way or another enhance the site for you?

i dont wish to be rude, but does anyone actually really care ? i mean, really ?

this whole banning ip thing is being treated like it was a life support machine being switched off for crying out loud.

my best wishes to those affected, but i am sure if they shop around a bit they can get a life from somewhere.
I agree with B00, it would be very unprofessional if the editors were to discuss the banning of any user openly.

if Leg is banned then that is between him and the site, nothing at all to do with anyone else on here. if he wants to discuss it with other users that's his call, but it is not the place of the editors to make any references to a users banning in public.

Well up to a few weeks ago Dotty didn't care whether Legend jumped off a cliff or not, so I'm slightly curious why she's now concerned over his demise from it?
maybe she likes laughing at the misfortune of others.

There has been so much conjecture and speculation about exactly what, why and how Answerbank has managed to jettison some> users......
Is it just a glitch ?
If it is a glitch, is it temporary or is it permanent ?
If it not a glitch, how has it been acheived ? Is it temporary or permanent ?
Has there been an editorial decision taken on some AB users ?
If there has, why those users in particular ? Is the fate that befell them, hanging sword-of-Damocles-like over the rest of us ?
There are reports being filtered through to the board via other means which only seem to cloud the issue.
I think that may be why Dot is interested in what has been going on.
I believe dot stated on here several days ago that she was surprised at the banning of leggy as he -in her eyes and those of others-had recently been conforming to AB rules. So-she has observed that this banning seems unwarrented.....and obviously she is not the only one to feel this way.

As for the banning being between legend and the ED...that may be so,but as of today-inspite of attempts to get answers-so far thr ED has not had the professional grace to give any. So...this is not going to die down. I suggest anyone who is bored with it to just get used to it. All the Ed needs to do is answer some questions....and also give some thought to suggestions made by some of the more neutral members of CB.
Indeed.

jack has contextualised my motives for asking precisley. i don't like change, or surprises, and I don't like change on Ab. I asked about the technicalities involved that's all. Sorry B00 if it looked like I was solely concerned with Legend's fate, and pasta is right about my view on the banning now. It seems a pointless exoercise at this stage of the game, which is what i have emailed the technical team about. Not the ed.
