ipod shuffle for about 79 is about 1Gb i think and they are the best and easiest to use and the earphones are great quality although mine broke after 6 months, but u can use any normal headphones on them. and if u have problems getting one try the apple site as my wife ordered me an apple ipod mini from them in december for xmas thinking she would have no chance and they actualy had 1000 of every colour available and received it within 4 days of ordering
yes, iPod shuffle 1GB for about 99.

otherwise, just browse round for one that looks half-decent. Samsung has a cool 1GB one. Don't buy sony.
Or a flash memory thingy. I've got a smaller (capacity) one and it couldn't be easier to use.

The Packard Bell Dreamaudio is supposed to be the best 1gig mp3 player in terms of battery life and sound quality. iPod Shuffle is just damned annoying.

that was the Samsung I was referring to. great, but it's battery is fixed internally.

that will do what you want, probably quite well. won't sound as good as an iPod though (probably).

still though, i'd recommend an iPod shuffle. assuming you have either usb2 or firewire ports on your computer and run winXP or win2000, you'll have no problems.
The reason people say avoid the shuffle is because to doesn't have a display so you can't pick a particular song. I have one and don't have a problem with it, you can either pay them in a random order or create a playlist and listen to them in the order of the playlist.

At the end of the day they are all pretty much the same and the price difference comes from the size of memory.
