After a recent visit from a friend who has lost a relative, I'm curious to know when someone is creamated is there more than 1 body in the oven? If so can you be sure that the ashes you get back are from your relative? Thanks

It's strictly one at a time and governed by quite detailed paperwork.
The ovens at the Crematorium are built to take only ONE coffin. This is why there have been problems with bodies of seriously obese persons. The undertakers an provide coffins for the obese,BUT the crematorium ovens cannot take them.
Only ONE coffin at a time is burnt.
Some crematoria have two(seperate) ovens, which means two coffins can be burnt at the same time(but seperately) this might be where the myth originates?
This is the Code of Practice of our local crem. You'll find most authorities have a similar section on their websites.
