Hello. Just received my new Samsung E720 this morning, and totally, utterly, completelly spoiling the phone is a "Shortcut" bar on the Home screen (Where the time, date, and Operator is displayed). This bar runs down the left hand side of the screen, with black/orange/white icons (Phone, Messages, Calendar, Orange World). As the Samsunfg screen is so bright and colourful, I want to remove this bar, but cant see any way in the Settings? This is an Orange phone unfortunatley, meaning its Branded to the hilt, with logos, background, menus, screen savers, songs - everything ORANGE! I might just send the thing back and get a different handset thats less branded (Nokia 3230) or a different network... Any help appreciated guys!

I have a very similar problem with a new Nokia I bought.  I asked before I bought the phone for it to not have the Orange logo on the outside shell of the phone.  They complied, but the actual phone is full of Orange backgrounds etc etc.   I think this is a common trend amongst all manufacturors / networks.  Phone's should be pure.

p.s. sorry I can't help! But I hope someone can.

I'm still gobsmacked that Orange sent you a phone without the Network Logo on the outside! I hate the Orange logo, hate it! I mean, why, why is it there? They could at least make it interesting, rather than a bloody orange square! Sorry, I have issues with it. And another thing... on the menu, on a friends T-Mobile E720 and D500, its nice and colourful, the graphics are superb... mine is just ALL ORANGE COLOURED! Even when I change the skin! So I'm either debating selling the Samsung E720 brand new for 175 and getting an unbranded D500, or sending it back and getting a Nokia 3230, its a Symbian phone so you can delete the Orange software! :-)

I have a Samsung E710 on Orange -  model below the one you have.  I don't know if the setting are the same but here goes just in case:

On mine - Menu - 4 Phone Settings - 2 Display - 1 Wallpaper - 4 Text Position - Off.

Hope this helps

the debrand p[ack at fone fun shop will get rid of the crappy orange firmwares, and t-mobile ones too
