Who would have thought that somebody that had to borrow 125% of the purchase price of a house could not afford to meet the payments?

Unfortunately no allowances are made for losing your job.

My daughter has a 125% mortgage -more than able to pay for it until she was paid off.As we all know if you own your own property you are not entitled to the equivelent of housing benefit. She has another job but the hours arent guaranteed so I work to help her until such time as this bleeding recession passes and jobs become more readily available.

Anyway -no regrets as she doesnt have negative equity and was on the property ladder at 18 and is now 20.
im sure there are still plenty of people out there with 125% mortgages who can afford the repayments.

just as there are those (look through AB if) who have 70% mortgages and cant afford the payments
