Hi guys,

In Feb 2007 i purchased a 32" LCD tv from Comet. In the 2 and a half years i've had it, i have had to get engineers out twice to fix it, and this morning when i went to switch it on i heard an electircal buzzing and it sounded like something had blown inside so the tv didnt come on.

Unfortunately i have misplaced the paperwork but was wondering whether i had any rights for them to replace the tv or if i would need to pay an engineer as i am (i presume) outside of the guarantee?

Any help greatly appreciated

Hi guys (again!)

Just had a call from the engineer who came round to "fix" the tv. He said they won't order the part needed till i at least pay the 45 labour cost.

Do i now phone Comet and kick off??
Go to you nearest CAB as they can offer you the services of a Free Solicitor and explain to him the problems. Take with you the letter you downloaded from the 'One Show' site and see what he says. Paying serious money for a TV that gives up after 2 1/2 Years breaches Sale of Goods Act.

Hi Guys,

Update on the situation.

Had a call from customer services in response to my latter. they have basically said they are not in breach of the SOGA as they are offering a repair at a reduced rate.

I have agreed to the repair (unwillingly, as i have no tv) but advised her that i will be seeking 3rd party advice.

I'm really angry
