T'would be difficult carving a fig tree.
dutch elm disease was only called dutch elm disease after 1910?
There are elms in the play Jerusalem ..

Wood was so scarce in those days and they had never heard of Holland the word dutch wasn't known to them.
Did the Netherlands exist in those days ?

Because (a) trees take years to grow anyway and more to the point (b) a carpenter deals in the tree after it is dead as a tree, and just uses the wood. The more trees dead, the more wood he has.

Pardon?

A tree is a tree. A dead tree is just wood. Carpenters make things from wood, not living trees.

I'm going to back to my farm on facebook - strawberries must be ready by now......
Nay Dot Dutch Elm disease was only discovered in Europe in 1910

He mainly made gates and elm isn't used for gates but then how many elms grew in Jerusalem in those days?

And when it's dead it's called 'timber' according to my stuck up, arrogant opinionated carpenter of an ex..!!
yeah cath but that's like saying australia was only discovered in 1777 or when ever, it was there before it was discovered and named.
