Import Duty

I am due to send a parcel to Australia, which an item worth about �360.  The person I am sending it oo has enquired about import duty they might have to pay..but I havn't got a clue how that works. Does anyone know?

The receiver (or importer) in Australia will need to pay any import duty levied by Australian Customs based on the type and value of the goods. When you send the goods you normally need to complete a Customs Declaration as to the type and value of the goods so that Customs can levy any extra charge on the importer (it may also be beneficial to enclose an invoice).
