Sorry was not sure of the best title for this. I have a contract phone with Vodafone. I recently upgraded my phone. My dad is on a pay as you go with Virgin so I wanted to give him my old phone. I contacted Vodaphone and they gave me the code to lift the restriction on the phone and I was able to put my dads sim in - seems to be able to use it fine but is showing T Mobile UK now rather than Virgin. Can anyone explain? I did try to manually select network but Virgin did not seem to be a choice. many thanks

Virgin doesn't use its own network, it piggy backs onto t-mobile's technology, so there's no need to worry about it.

thanks for your response. Really the only thing I was worried about was when he tops up - he has one of those virgin cards that he gets swiped at the supermarket to top up - that should be ok shouldnt it. It will put the top up to his number anyway?
It will be fine. Think of it as Virgin being an broker for t-mobile. You pay Virgin which allows you to use the t-mobile network.
