I am a declared bankrupt and live with my partner who is paying the mortgage on the house which is in her sole name. I have no financial interest in the house but will she be liable in any way for my debts through her asset in the house? Thanks for your help.

Probably not, but you need to be certain that you have not built up a beneficial interest in the house. You say you have no financial interest in it. Does this mean you did not pay anything towards the deposit and have never paid any of the mortgage? If so, then you almost certainly do not have a beneficial interest unless you have contributed value in other ways - for example by doing things such as building an extension or refitting a kitchen.

There is a booklet on the Insolvency Service website about the effects of bankruptcy on houses. Look at it & it may give you more detail.

Thanks for your response. Although i initially spoke to a liquidator who advised i was a classic case to go bankrupt, my partner is still seeking reassurances that she is not liable for any of my debt. I haven't contributed towards the mortgage or towards an extension, so it looks like you've nailed it, thanks again.
