Internet - pesky search bar

I have suddenly acquired an unwanted search bar on my internet window. It appears when i open up a new window. I can temp get rid of it by right-clicking on the space and unticking it, but how do i get rid of it forever?!

You've got spyware on your pc. You'll need to download some tools to get rid of them.

If it's not too bad of a spyware, you can download adaware and spybot which are very good. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

You can also go to the microsoft's antispyware beta version which takes a long time to run, but it searches through your registry and really cleans deep:

Still have troubles after that, post and there are additional things you can do. Unfortunately, I've had to do that...

If that still doesn't work, you might have to download some even heavier-duty removers.

I'd try the above.
One fo the heavier duty removers is "Hijack This" which can remove most browser gumph like this
