MAC code for mobile broadband?

Hi all,
I'm looking at changing from AOL to a mobile broadband provider but my fiance wants to keep AOL for our PC. So I'm wondering do I need to get a MAC code from AOL to be able to use mobile broadband on my laptop or the PC?
I don't think I do, as I believe MAC codes are something to do with the telephone line but I thought I'd ask and see what the real deal is.
I'd be grateful for any info.
