I am looking for good versions of bob dylan songs recorded by well known artists. I have a few, Boots of Spanish leather by Nanci Griffiths and One more cup of coffee for the road by the White Stripes are among my favourites, but I reckon there must be hundreds. Any suggestions?

All Along The Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix. Hey Mr Tambourine Man by The Byrds, Knocking on Heavens Door by Eric Clapton or Guns n Roses.

I think Nick Drake does some Dylan covers on the 'Tamworth In Arden' album.  There is also a blues player called Roger Hubbard who does a cracking version of Love Minus Zero / No Limit on his Danger Deep Mud album.

How about the Rolling Stones doing Like A Rolling Stone on the Stripped LP?

I will have a bit more of a think - maybe Richie Havens does a few Dylan covers?  He is worth checking out.

Richie Havens covers Just Like A Woman in his Album 'Mixed Bag'.

Uncut magazine did a couple of CDs of Dylan covers a couple of years ago which featured some good songs, some not so good. The stand out one for me was a cover of the Nashville Skyline track "I Threw It All Away" by Yo La Tengo. Superb.

'Tomorrow is a long time', covered by Elvis Presley is quoted by Bob Dylan as his favourite cover of one of his songs, and it is fantastic. However, Jimi Hendrix cover of 'All along the watchtower' is my favourite.
