Ignore it - its an old con.
What happens next is you told that you are just the thing they are looking for, and please could they have some money now for your photo portfolio. That's the last you'll see of the money and no work will result from it.
^ ditto... avoid any company that asks you for money... if you have the look they're after they'll eat the cost of an initial photoshoot/portfolio themselves...
Absolutely.

Agencies earn money FOR you ... not FROM you.

They should only receive money from you by way of commissions on shoots.

They will also receive booking fees from clients.

Ask them in advance to confirm that they do not take any fees from models except by way of commission.

A good agency will happily reply ... "Absolutely"

If there is ANY equivocation about this issue, then don't go.

If you do have potential, there will be other agencies happy to put you on their books.
