I recently stored 3 word documents on a 31/2 floppy, yet when i returned to the disk it appears i canot access some documetns. On newer PC's it says thhe disk is unformatted, and on older machines it can access all the documents accept 1, which just so happens to be the one i need. Is there any ways of getting data off the disk??

Try using file explorer to copy them onto your hard drive of the older computer. This sometimes frees up document problems like this.
If you know someone with an Apple Mac, you might be able to retrieve. Ideally either a really old Mac running something like OS 8.1 or one of the newer ones running OS 10.3 (Panther) or 10.4 (Tiger). These read the files in a different way and may overlook any corrupted PC directories on the disc.
