hi, what would happen (as i think it has) if you put your out of office on, then send an email to someone and immediately shut your computer down. They also have their out of office on, so it autmatically pings back to you, then your out of office message pings to them and so on ad infinitum until your mailbox is totally full? will it just contine and continue or will it only do it once?

when I use this at work, it only notifies each sender for the first email sent.

interesting theory though!
most email servers have some sort of anti loop built into them.

but if that protection isn't there, then yes it is possible to put a pair of mail servers into a loop just sending out of office replies.

The system is more to stop mail forwarding loops though. i.e.: if you were to setup a hotmail account and a gmail account and then set them both to automatically forward all messages to the other account they would get in a perpetual loop and bring the server down because all it would have time to do was deal with the loop.
