We do a big "themed" concert every year at College for our music students to perform in. Past years have been Gershwin and Ellington, Lennon and McCartney, Bacharach, Motown, Disco Fever... Can anyone think of another really good theme which is different to everything covered here? I like Eurovision as a theme, but nobody else did, and nobody seems to want to do 80s either.

Any ideas?!!

How about 'Guess the writer''.....

There are loads of songs written by famous people, but made famous by other people.  For instance, Neil Diamond wrote (and recorded) loads of stuff that is better remembered by other recording stars.  The most famous of which is probably Red Red Wine recorded by UB40.  Dolly Parton is another prolific writer and recorder, but a lot of her songs were hits for other artists (Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You).

Bob Dylan too - might need some work.....

Grand Ole Opry - a history of country & western music

Bubblegum - a tribute to teenybop bands (Monkees, Bay City Rollers, Take That, New Kids on the Block, Shaun Cassidy, stuff like that)

Mods and Rockers.
What about the The 1950's Rock 'N' 'Roll period.  Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, to name just a few. It was what started the whole teenage musical revolution. In fact, it's where the teenager was born.
