I agree with Andy re the long flight ; but would also ask how much pleasure will a toddler get from the usual Florida places.
In a couple of years thet would enjoy the holiday so much more.
Mightn't be quite old enough for rollercoasters yet; but America in general is a great place for kids - hotels, shops and restaurants cater for them and people are nice to them. Not like the UK.

Oh - Brits aren't horrible to kids jno!!!  Ok so perhaps there's less tolerance of whining tantrums, but I'm sure that's more a reflection on an attitude towards bad parenting.  (Yes, I specifically mean the kids that are being permitted to behave badly, I understand that kids often cry for a good reason).

Re your young child I would only say this:  if you have other kids who may soon fly the nest or lose interest in family holidays, and this is your last chance to have a "whole family" holiday while your kids really are kids then GO FOR IT!!!!  There will be plenty of things that he/she will enjoy, even if they don't really remember it in years to come.  That said, I wouldn't envy you on the flight!!!

If your 2 1/2 yr old is your first, maybe wait for a couple of years til you know they'll really REALLY enjoy such a pricey adventure!!

From experience, if you are planning to do the theme parks etc, I would say wait until a child is about 7 or 8, as there is a lot of walking involved, and a young child would be too small to go on many of the attractions.

When we went to Florida, we were in the parks from opening to closing time, to get the best of our money, and that just wouldnt be practical, spending 14 hours in a theme park with a young child

There is no law against it!
My daughter is 2 and a half and we have not long returned from her fifth visit to florida! The flight is a long time, i took crayons and paper, books and small toys for the flight and bought a couple of comics at the airport!!!! admittedly we didnt 'do' the theme parks as i feel it is too young an age for that, but there is plenty to see and do for a two year old in florida, they do have zoos and farms etc and the scenery is spectacular in parts. There is no need to stay in orlando if you hire a car. I would definately recommend it. Just be careful of the hot weather, make sure you have loads of suntan cream for your child and sunhats!!!! But personally we have had a great time there, go for it
no i am takeing my 16 month baby in october

I have decided to try Disney Land Paris first.  If we have a good time there we can then think about Florida.  Thanks for all your advice.
