Ridulously Slow

For the last couple of weeks it has taken a full minute to get into google or internet explorer & outlook express. This is from just after turning on my computer in the morning.

During the day, if I've been away from my computer for more than 1/2 an hour, it's about 45 seconds.

Why has it become so slow & is there a way to make it faster?

Thought I'd put this question in here as it might get more people seeing it. It's driving me crazy!

I use firefox.

Sorry, I typed wrong in my question. It takes that long in both firefox or IE.

Have you emptied the cache and the history lately?

Are your browsers up to date ?

If it's only a problem immediately after starting your computer, could it be that your AV is doing a start-up scan? Or that your firewall is locked down until everything else has been initialised?

I had that problem and my IT man put a new REM in which cured it.
