Please would someone explain, in simple terms, zhis iniquitous starring system.

Yesterday...heading of question was"MJ free zone" and one poster posted 5 Michael Jackson's songs....and guess what folks?.......he got 3 stars.......?????????

When you(the poster) read an answer,under the answer is a button marjed "rate this answer" click on it and an option will appear to give from 0 to 4 stars.Once you click on the correct star rating the stars will appear next to the answer.

Many,many apologies it IS only (up to) 3 stars,I can't think why I thought it was 4.
My head must be IN the stars! LOL
