Real hair's the best bails, but the monofibre ones can look quite decent these days.
Let a hairdresser put them in for you, and go for the plait and glue type of hold. I had half a head done some years back (a full head's too many), which'd supposedly last for 3 months. I had them in for 7, so felt it was worth the money.
If you just want them in for a special occasion, you can buy the clip-on ones, but if if it's windy and your hair blows about, you can see where they've been put in.
Balmain are top of the range at present. They are real hair incorporating a glue fix, to be used with a heated gun.

expect to pay 1 per extension but last forever as they can be re-glued if they slip out.
itdepends-if you want ti purchase hair yourself and just tie them in to your own hair (you put your own hair into a bun, and then push the end of the extensions through the band around your bun-make sure its a thick band-then you get a hair scarf and tie it around the bun to cover the end of the extensions sticking out) it looks beautiful-and i laugh at peope who spend hundreds of pounds on extensions when you can buy human hair-from 10inches to 26 inches (lower back length) in all shades and textures, from black to blonde for around 60 in afro carribean shops. Real human soft silky hair. Try Brixton, in London (several hair shops) or beauty world in seven sisters outside the station, you can also get haor pieces-pony tails and synthetic hair from as little as 2

i would recommend great length hair extensions. these are great, and dont damange your hair as the bond used to hold them in is keratin based. they can last up to 6 months, but i had mine in for closer to 8. if you look after them and maintain them regularly you should be able to do the same.
