Norton Antivirus virus definition update. Query

I have the following message when operating the live Symantec update. " The following update has been aborted. Norton antivirus virus definition has 1 aborted update. Reason LU1848 could not create callback object." What actions can I take to eradicate this message.? Any solutions please.

Remove Norton completely using the add/remove software option in control panel and re-install from scratch. If you are using XP there are known non-compatability issues with certain versions of Norton so beware.
