Hazel Blears has survived a vote of no confidence by her local constituency party. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8107343 .stm
Have the British public become so apathetic about politics that we get the politicians we deserve?

rollo

"If she does get elected then here electors will indeed get the MP they deserve - and I hope whoever does vote for this awful woman are happy with their choice."

Salford..a safe Labour seat with a choice of Brown or Cameron.........my bet?........Blears will be re-elected.
As I said - their choice.

If they want to keep her then more fool them.

I was just picking myself up from "The Tories are the only viable alternative"

They'll have to find themselves a chancellor and an economic policy first!

I keep mixing the two Ozzies - Sharon's husband or Cameron's mate - they both make as much sense
Jake ...you mean like Darling and spend, spend , spend?

Try my wife.
Public spending now squad keeps people in jobs

Less dole payouts, less house reposessions.

Or are you recommending a savage cut in public spending, throwing thousands out of jobs and on to welfare?

Just wondering?
FFS jake it was a bleedin JOKE.
Jake does not joke about Labour politicians.

To him all of them are as white as white can be, pure as the driven snow, no question of them ever being wrong, etc!

To him, they are the chosen ones who will bring us all to the promised land.

It's just a question of how long we all have to wait for that journey to end.
rollo...it wasn't a joke about ANY politicians>

Darling..spend...wife...ffs does jake want me to spell it out?
On the day of the general election will the electorate tip her out of her boat?
Sounded like a serious point try smileys ;c)

There are enough people who think that "spending your way out of a recession" is dumb.

And sure you have to pay the bills in the long run

Way I see it you can have it short and really really tough or mild and long.
Ooops...sorry to squad...and to darling Mrs Squad.
Jake, I know you're a die-hard Labour supporter and will excuse whatever they do in whatever way you can, but this government really has gone far too far - in fact so far, that they are no longer a Labour party - so you need to ask yourself what are you really supporting. Gone are the days of the fights for the Miners - these people are a million miles from that and don't give two hoots for the working man. They ride roughshod over the electorate - and we have to acknowledge that. With New Labour, Britain has moved on - and not in a good direction. The way I see it is if they get in next time we won't have it short and really, really tough - we'll have it long and really, really tough. The Conservatives aren't spectacular, but we have to get rid of this government. They are systematically eroding our rights and our privacy, they're immoral, unethical, and more dishonest and corrupt than any government I can ever remember, and since the Liberals don't stand a cat in hell's chance of victory in a General Election, the Conservatives are the only viable alternative. We simply have to tell this Government that what it's doing is not acceptable - and it isn't. Hazel Blears survival says everything about today's Labour Party - and if you can't see that, then I suggest you do some very serious thinking. Idealism is all very well, but in the real world we have to face facts.
Under Labour in the last 10yrs, the rich have got richer and the poor have got poorer.......................sounds good to me....they get my vote.
This is what we have come to expect from the Labour Party, it seems both from their members in Parliament or at local level they always seem reluctant to dismiss anyone no matter what they have done, yet the Tories get rid of their own at the drop of a hat, even for telling a joke that wasn't quite PC.

Surely her local constituency party, should have listened to the general public and got rid of her.
