Hi. Does anyone know if being on the pill for a while (10 years) would effect how long it would take to fall? I'm planning to stop to taking the pill in August.
Thanks.

Why? Is the pill making you dizzy?
some say it takes a while to get your fertility.
other say the first month off is a very fertile time.

if youre trying to plan then maybe stop now and use a barrier method until you wish to start trying to conceive
Alcohol does it for me..............

should i avoid alcohol whilst trying? all together or just cut back?
tbh helster, avoiding all the bad things are advised. But then, you may put your mind and body under unecessary stress with constant thoughts of conceiving.

take folic acid and cut down on drink if you can.
Hi,

I was on the pill for 7yrs. I came off it in December and I'm now 3 months pregnant. I wasn't exactly trying but we were happy for it to happen. I was still having a couple of large reds on the weekend and I was also still smoking at the time, neither was i taking any folic acid - as like i said i wasn't trying for a baby as such.
A friend of mine who fell pregnant a month before me was doing the same as me, she also stopped in december and had been on the pill for sometime. She didn't smoke but was still drinking etc etc.
Anyway, her sister has been desperately trying since September of last year and has done the whole trying to time it around her ovulation date, has stopped drinking, stopped smoking and has been taking folic acid etc and she's still to concieve.
I think what i'm trying to say is I think that what redcrx said about the stress can definately have an effect. I also agree with what red said before about coming off the pill sooner rather than later and usuing a barrier, just to get the pill out of your system and for your body to start functioning normally again.
Hi Helster, I was on the pill for 8 years and in december i forgot to start again after my pill free week so was going to wait til Jan cycle and start then. My period in Jan never came & im now 24 weeks pregnant. We werent trying as such but knew the consequence of having unprotected sex in this time so if it happened it happened. We didnt make any changes either so I guess everyone is different but folic acid etc cant do any harm. Good luck. x x
I had been on the pill for 22yrs when we decided to start trying for a baby. 2mnths later and I was pregnant. I am now 35wks.
Hi. I was on the pill for about 11 years and stopped taking in in January. I have since had two periods and appear to be on 72 day cycles, excellent :o( Not even sure if I'm ovulating but it doesn't look like it. My point being if your partner agrees - I would come off the pill and like everyone else sadi use a barrier until you're ready to start trying. You may get lucky like some of the other ladies but if your body is going to need time to adjust then the longer you can give it the better. Good luck
