Confederation cup is the competition for the champions of the F.I.F.A confederations.

I.e Spain are European Champions so they are there, Brazil won Copa America etc

In addition the hosts, South Africa and the World cup holders, Italy, are also invited.

The "weaker" teams have won the cup for thier confederation e.gNew Zealand are holders of the Oceania nations cup and represent the Oceanic confederation

It is seen as a warm up for the world cup organisation.
