I was on holiday in Egypt about 3 weeks ago, and during my time there I posted 6 postcards to my friends and family. None of which have arrived. Is Egyptian postage usually this slow?

occasionally, yes. It's possible they may never arrive. The third world is like that sometimes. But they may just be in a train chugging round the outskirts of Cairo in search of a sorting office.
Did you give the postcards to the hotel clerk, and then give them money for the stamps and he / she was supposed to put the stamps on and post them??

If so they probably kept the money and threw the postcards ways.

This is a well known scam in some countries.
Something I do now when I go abroad is write out envelopes to those I send postcards to and pop the postcard in the envelope when on holiday. Letters seem to get to their destination whereas postcards don't!

No I posted them through a letterbox at the hotel.
Oh well I'll keep waiting... :o)
