Saw this film on Sky recently and was left with 2 questions :-

1 If the ghost wants her help,why does it knock 7 shades of shine out of her ?

2 Why is she freed at the end ? Surely,when all is said and done she still butchered her husband ? Possession would not stand up in court !

1/ the only way halle berry could get out of her cell would be for it to look like she was harming herself. the girl couldn't get her to do it, so she starts harming her, so the gaurds rush up to see whats wrong, therefore giving her chance to escape.

2/ we dont know how much time has passed before we see her on the outside, the change of hairdo is a clue that it was quite a while. she could have been anywhere during this time, including a psychiatric hospital for assessment etc. she could also have used self defence as a defence, using the excuse that she knew what her husband had done, and was stopping her husband from trying to do the same to her.
