Apologies if this is in the wrong category.

I was wondering if anyone on AB has been awarded Disability Living Allowance on the strength of them having Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? Or anyone with CTS has been turned down?

I have been diagnosed with it in both hands, and I am considering making an application for DLA.

TIA.

They have changed the form but it is no easier to fill in and it still leans towards mobility
I last worked in 2003 - October 31 after 24 years and 33 days - not that I as glad to leave.

So it is some time since I have seen a form. I used to feel bad when people who were obviously needing help were turned down for DLA. You really had to emphasise the impact the disability had on the person - and people were reticent to do so.

I think that I will go and annoy my cats now.

Night.

Many thanks to all for replies.

The facts are that my abilities vary from day to day. If I am having a bad day, I cannot peel veg because I cannot grip the knife properly, or unscrew the top from a jar of sauce, for example. I seem to have very little strength in my wrists. Often on those days, I have help from my partner. But on other days I can manage, albeit often with discomfort.

Not many of my answers on the form would be 'cut and dried' if you know what I mean.

Reading through samuelcat's posts, I wonder if I stand no chance of being awarded it.
I would definitely contact the CAB. They were absolutely brilliant with my claim. They came to my house, filled the form in for me and sent if off. My claim was sorted out in six weeks.
Apply for it anyway. All you will get is a yes or no.
Talk to your GP so he will be aware if he gets anything from them to fill in.
Tell them if you have to use any aids.
As said in another post, tell them of the worst days not the good ones.
Good Luck.

Thank you samuelcat. I'm undecided whether to have a go though - your experience with your partner sounds horrible.

Jan, did you get awarded it? Hope you don't mind me asking - what is your problem?
