if hiring a car in europe, how can you find out how much deposit is taken from your credit card when picking up the car?

Unfortunately they don't seem to do that - it's usually says something like local suppliers differ!

I'm getting quotes when I ring the helpline of around 700-900 euros which is astranomical!

Does anybody know of a company where the deposit is very low
