Scourie . . . . sounds like scaurie
. . . . just found matching bird spelling, 'Scourie'

clue actually reads:

Hi tollview - sorry for long delay. Just to clarify, a young gull is SCAURIE also spelt SCORIE, whereas the place name is SCOURIE. I thought I'd found the same spelling for the bird but can't now prove it! So maybe it's a soundalike clue? Anyway here are my refs, Regards ja:
