a member of crew has been injured by a car on the set.
the "cars accelerator stuck"
iv'e been driving various cars trucks and lorries for over 45 years and never had a stuck pedal ??more like the person driving this car,(i believe a female) had the"wrong type" of shoes on

The person in question recons he was a lorry driver!! this I cannot see, if a HGV Driver came across this dilemma & was familiar with the road of which I presume he did (as a lot of HG Vs know where Blythe is, there where plenty of places running up to Blythe on the (A1 M) where he could have, without putting anyone else in danger run off the motorway, I always had the motto when I was driving IF the situation were to occur & other peoples life were at stake I would run my Lorry off the road but as said & from a PERSON with experience he could have turned off the key but still have steering + brakes + handbrake, if the truth be know & we have all seen it, he had fallen to sleep but to close to the roundabout to do anything about it, but to the initial post, we can all get our feet stuck in the pedals, can you remember the first Minis?
I used to drive a Peugeot boxer van, the accelerator had a bump stop underneath it and, twice whilst driving, the pedal slipped off the edge of the bump stop and jammed down.
No drama, once I realised what had happened I just controlled the speed with the brake until I found a safe place to stop, pulled in to the side and braked until it stalled, got out pulled the accelerator free and carried on!

After the second time Peugeot recalled the vans and fitted a larger bump stop.
TWR - he was on the phone to the police for 20 minutes - there was a police helicopter and four police cars trying to help.. There was no way that chap was asleep at the wheel when he hit the roundabout.
I understand that Ethel, but a person that calls himself a lorry driver would not put peoples lives at risk like this Idiot did, a few have given an answer of what he could have done, they said nothing became of it!! I wonder would that have been the case if he would have ran into the back of standing traffic, with respect Ethel with 38yrs of driving HG-Vs an advanced Cert in the same, regular driving assessments my experience tell me the bloke could have handled this in a professional way as a professional HGV would have done.
Rare but entirely possible. OnRover 75 or BMW diesel engines there is an oil filter in what might be considered the rocker cover. I do not under stand the mechanics very well but if it gets blocked the engine begins to suk oil out of the sump and "burn" it. which can use up your oil with obvious consequences. In extreme circumstances which I saw when my mechanic was checking this and revved the engine hard, it began to "mainline" oil from the sump, to run on the oil. to over rev bigtime and he had to stall stop the engine. Yes it could have "run away".I Could hardly believe what I was seeing. Then the man took and showed me the same filter unit on a 530d as on my 75. He claimes they need changing about every 60k. No big deal job and I believe this guy. |Maybe other diesels are the same.
