I've just caught the end of Martin Clunes's Islands of Britain on ITV1. The programme description mentions a family who lost London Borough, Putney in a card game.

Does anyone know who this family were. I can find no online info.

Thanks

It was one of the St Aubyn family in fact the one whos portrait is shown here but I cant remember which one it was. The tale was that he wagered a farm in a card game,he lost and that farm later became what is known as Putney today
