I've just checked my profile and noticed that one of my answers has been removed. Is it possible to find out which it was and why?

It may not be due to anything you've done- it can happen when a whole thread is removed- usually if you have responded to a question and that question is subsequently reported and removed.

Thanks for replies. I certainly don't recall being contentious or out of order!
I heard you're a trouble maker ;o)
As factor30 has said you don't have to be, if the thread is pulled off your answer goes with it
it might also get removed if you've posted it twice by accident, which happens quite a lot when the site is as slow and cranky as it has been this weekend.
Jno has almost certainly provided the correct answer.

If a thread is removed your answer obviously disappears with it, but that does not add to your count of 'removed posts'.

However this can often happen:
You compose your answer and click 'Submit'.
AB's 'incoming' server recognises your post but the 'outgoing' server is 'going slow', so the page you see fails to update.
Frustrated at nothing happening, you click 'Submit' again.
AB's 'incoming' server spots a duplicate post. It doesn't add it on to the thread but simply increases your score of 'removed posts' by one.
With a bit of luck, the 'outgoing' server finally updates the page, and you see your answer on the screen.
If not, you might be tempted to click 'Submit' again, resulting in your 'removed posts' score increasing yet again.
