Dog with cramp?

One of my two 14 year old border collies seemed to seize up on her right side last night as though she had cramp, it lasted about 5 minutes. This morning it happened again and lasted for about half an hour. I know she needs a vet and have an appointment at 10.50. Just wondered if anybody had any idea what the problem could be. I am concerned that it could be a stroke. Thanks, Wendy.

Sorry to hear about the poor little soul - I hope it is only cramp.
I also have two collies but they're younger. My younger one is actually epileptic, he's only four, but his condition is controlled in the main by medication - "epiphen" in his case.
I note you were off to the vet this morning - best of luck - don't know if you'd consider an update? Unless it's bad news and it would be too distressing.

Paraffin, latest update, got Susie back at 6.30 tonight, vet thinks it's a problem with her brain, either a slight bleed which can be treated or a tumor, I won't go any further on that one. She's been very restless since she came home but is now fast asleep, albeit in front of the dishwasher and not in her duvet as usual. Means I can't tidy the kitchen, but I'd much rather get up to a mess in the morning and a happy pooch. Thank you for your replies and concern, Wendyxx
Hi, Wendy - how's Susie? from what you say, it sounds like she's had a mini stroke (sorry). My friend's old collie sheepdog (he was 15) had a similar thing, but recovered enough to still have a good quality of life for a year or so afterwards. It's awful when they get old, isn't it? My lovely Elsa (GSD, 11yrs now) is starting to get very geriatric too. She's on medication for her arthritis and evening primrose oil for a skin condition, but she still enjoys life and as long as she's not in pain, I'll keep her going. I've had her since she was 8 weeks old and met her the day she was born - it was love at first sight! She's my special girl (along with Cassie, one of my old cats!) K xx
