Is it right that next of kin (ie children) should not automatically receive a copy of a parents will, but a non connected partner does?

Nobody has to be given a copy of a will, nor does anybody have a right to such a copy before the will has been proved and probate obtained. After that has happened anybody can obtain a copy of the will from the Probate Registry.

There is no requirement to have any copies of the original, although I would recommend giving the executors, named in the will, a copy if they don't have the original
