I have a part time job, whilst my youngest son is still very small. I work 2 afternoons per week and my yearly salary sits in the middle of the tax free allowance. However, I have covered at work for someone who was ill, for 2 months and my company paid me the overtime in one lump sum, along with my months wages, so I have paid tax of 20.60. Now, I know it's not much but as my yearly wage will still be well below the tax threshold and I need every penny I can get, is there a way to get this tax back? The tax I have paid is from my wage slip dated 30 th April, so do I have to wait until next year now anyway?

Assuming that you have a normal cumulative tax code then you will get it back either in your next pay packet or in dribs and drabs over the next few.
