When I flush the water is filling the bowl and taking over an hour to go down, how do I fix this without calling the plumber?

give it a good plung with the plunger or put the hosepipe down and give it a blast
Is this an upstairs or ground level toilet?

If it's the latter check you outside drain via the inspection cover. There should be no visible water above the pipe that takes the foull water away.

If the drain itself is blocked that can cause the problem.
take excess water out useing a bike pump to suck out all water remove any tissue poop and let bowl refill wear long water proof gloves
Get a Household Mop and plunge it with that, works everytime and obviously cheapest option.

I once unblocked mine with an old wire coat hanger that I unwraveled. Lucky the block was just after the ubend behind the toilet.
