I need an excel template to split cash wages amount in to coins and notes required - where to start?

There is probably something already written but a starting point could be to use the 'Round down' facility. That will give you the pounds figure. Subtract that from the full price and you'll get the pence. Then you can manipulate those further to get different denominations- but it's a long process
