Martin McGuinness, Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, and former IRA "Chief of Staff", has received a death threat from the "Real IRA" - Just how ironic is that?

Live by the sword !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well look what happened to Michael Collins........
Maybe there is a God afterall

Hahahaha

Lets hope its not just a threat.
I don't think he'll loose much sleep over this latest threat.
The Loyalists, armed and supplied with intelligence about his location by the British security services, never managed to get near him. He's not going to worry too much about a threat from a load of drug-dealing gangsters who are trying to cover their criminal activities with the mantle of
Ultra-Republicanism.

Actually these loose cannons are probably a greater threat. They have lost sense of reality.
Youngmaf...,
they may have lost their sense of reality, but believe me, Martin mcGuinness hasn't.
Well noted Youngmafbog. This is what happens when we put guns in the hands of children. Ironic - Idon't think so. Global insanity.
is someone going to shoot Martin -- are they looking for funding for this particular fine act ?
Leo. Before the peace was brokered, was there a drug problem in NI? Or did the paramilitaries have their finger in that pie as well?

I take it he won't be having a bodyguard? Just like all those unsuspecting victims during "the troubles" of the late 60s - mid 90s?
It would one of the most justified killings in history if it happened and can we hope that there is another bullet for Gerry Adams.
McGuinness was the one who kept the members of the IRA wanting the armed war to carry on, 'onside' as it were during the years it took the peace process to be worked through . He will be well aware he's under threat as Razzle said of Michael Collins . As McGuiness was around when the provos split from the Official IRA he'll know that the Real IRA are bound by 'army' rules to attempt to kill him .

The fact that he was on the IRA army council during the peace process , as was Adams gives them power, according to the IRA constitution to negotiate with the British .

If McGuiness & Adams hadn't been part of the IRA there would have been no peace process .
are people really hoping McGuinness will be murdered? What. so that we can return to the good old anarchy of the 80s, with bombs going off in London shops and civil war in Belfast?

Boy, nostalgia takes strange forms sometimes.
Would it be too much to hope that in the not too distant future Martin McGuinness & co, Johnny Adair & co. will be nothing more than something to frighten the little children of Noonooland unless some wha wha decides to make heroes of them.
Is it just me; when I see 'The Real IRA' I imagine a smaller, more hard line group of para-militaries entitled 'We're not messing around this time we really are the REAL REAL IRA'
I think that's the intention, booldawg. Remember, McGuinness's lot weren't actually the IRA either, they were the Provisional IRA, having split off from the real IRA years earlier much as the Real IRA have done now.
