Hi, Last night I was getting really bad signal on Freeview (missed the end of Coronation Street, bah). I did a recan and I've lost the ITV channels, channel 4 and more I expect. Rescanned again today but nothing. I've never had problems losing channels before. I am in London and live on high ground. My area is fully covered.

Does anyone know what I could do or what the problem is? Thanks

If the signal is bad/weak for some reason - probably atmospheric conditions - then rescanning your box may well result in channels getting missed.

Do the set up again once conditions improve and all should be well.

Thanks for your answer. I'll try again later.
Sorry can't help but have similar problem.
Have difficulty getting a signal anyway but used to get BBC4 OK. Then had a letter saying we had to retune about a week or so back and did that. Then could get many more stations OK but BBC 4 was bad.
However, both Sunday night and last night, couldn't get decent reception on anything.
(I'm in Southampton)
Well I have the same problem and don't know how to fix it. I used to get most of the channels but not all and then one day in the middle of a program screen went blank and couldn't get the channel back. Tried scanning several times since and still not got the channels that I used to have back. Very annoying as I used to get qvc but don't anymroe.

I just rescanned and they're back again! Maybe it is just case of just retrying. Its strange not getting them back at all though. I read somewhere to reset to factory setting then rescan. I guess you run the risk of losing more then though.
I think it's as rollo says.
On a good reception day, retuning will find all your stations. On a bad reception day, retuning will lose them all.
This bad / good reception day doesn't augur well for when we go totally digital does it? Sounds like those of us on Freeview are lumbered unless every day is a good reception day!! So much for progress!!!!!
When the Analogue TV Signal is switched off completely, the power of the Digital Transmission will increase Tenfold, resulting in much better reception for everyone i.e Far less Signal Break-up.
In the meantime we will all have to put up with some disruption due to Engineering work which needs to be carried out in preparation for the Switch-over.
Different Regions will have different Dates for the Change over. The Granada Region has a 2 Phase switchover date, starting on 4th November followed by another on 2nd December and Freeview Boxes will have to be Re-Scanned twice.
If you live some considerable distance from the Transmitter, Freeview reception can be a little bit of a Hit and Miss affair for the time being. If you lose Channels, try and do a Full Scan on a day when reception is good and not affected too much by the weather.Once we are all on Digital these problems should all go away so that we can enjoy a stable service.
