Hot water tank

My hot water tank has 3 x22mmm holes: bottom is cold in I understand and the very top hot out ,but the 3/4 of way up 22mm has me confused as there is no coils or anything in the tank.
think it will be ok to blank off?

It is just a spare connection. You can just blank it off.

If you had a coil in the cylinder you would have 2x 1" Male Iron threads about 1" long sticking out from the side of the cylinder, one above the other (usually) and about 15" apart.

Are you sure the top hole isn't for an overflow pipe? Some cylinders do have them just in case they over-fill.
